Feathers

September 3, 2009

Forget fur, it is all about feathers this season! Okay don’t completely forget about fur, faux fur is making a fierce comeback this fall, but for now lets focus on feathers. Not into the full feather skirts and dresses that graced many runways this year? Don’t worry there are plenty of other subtle ways to work feathers into your outfit without being so literal.

The Boyfriend Blazer

Last year I was all about the boyfriend cardigan, which is just too damn cozy for me not to bring back, but this year I am loving the boyfriend blazer. I think part of my love comes from the fact that it reminds me of one of my favorite movies, Rushmore. I just want to slap a perfect attendance pin on mine and save Latin.
Kenna-T $238

This one is available at www.nordstrom.com. I found a more affordable one online, Macy’s $33,  if you don’t want to drop $238 for the Kenna-T version. I have seen a lot of people wearing these with boyfriend jeans and distressed jeans. Personally I like to pair mine with a dress or black skinny jeans and booties for a sleek, sophisticated look.

Structured Shoulders

You most likely saw this silhouette on the Spring and Fall runways if you were paying attention. Below are a few ways to bring the accentuated shoulder look into your wardrobe without birds perching on your shoulders. I have included affordable options as well.

All My Stripper Friends

September 2, 2009

I remember back in the Gold Club days strippers in Atlanta were proud of what they did, but these days it is another story. Morality has taken a downward spiral right along with the economy. No longer can many girls get away with just shaking their ass a little bit and walking away with a grand. Now girls have to work twice as hard to make half as much and it doesn’t help that some women have no self respect and will do anything behind the curtain for a little extra money. These hos make it harder for the decent women working in the club to charge a fair rate for a private dance. The way I see it is you can stoop down to the level of a prostitute or you can learn the hustle and leave with your dignity intact. I am going to save my hustling tips for a later post, but for now I am going to let these broke ass customers know what to do and what NOT to do in a strip club.

1.) Do not complain about paying the entry fee or valet.  You will look like a cheap ass and no one will want to talk to you because you will suddenly take on the stench of old cheese and moth balls.

2.) Do not be afraid or too shy to tip on stage and try to tip many girls.  This will get you attention and respect from the dancers even if it is only a few dollars. It hurts the ego to dance on stage and not get any tips.

3.) If you can’t afford a single dance do not go in the club in the first place.

4.) Do not ask the dancers to hang out with you outside of work. They don’t want to no matter how “deep” your conversation was. If a dancer agrees to give you her number only call her to set up another time to come see her in the club. Which brings me to number…

5.) Spend money! If you tell a dancer you are coming to see her she assumes you are going to spend money on her! Even if you don’t want dances you must pay for her time if you want to sit and talk to her.  Don’t get mad if  “your girl” gets up and talks to another guy. He is most likely a regular whom she knows will pay her. If you can’t afford to be a regular take up a new hobby or find a woman on your level.

6.) Don’t ask , “so what do you do in the V.I.P. room?”. You know what is suppose to happen in the back rooms and if you want more hire a hooker. If you really want something extra in the club don’t worry the trashy girl will eventually come around and whisper in your ear exactly what she will do to you. This also makes you a complete asshole.

7.) Brush your teeth.

8.) If you wear sweatpants don’t expect a good lap dance

9.) Most importantly realize a strip club is a business and the strippers are working. Respect their time, bodies, and minds. I read an article about how to pick up a stripper and it said to put her down because this will make you seem different than the rest of the customers. Do not put a dancer down! Despite how beautiful she may be she has feelings and getting naked in front of people makes most feel very insecure, not to mention the fact that they know every game. The whole I don’t really like strip clubs I just drove by so I’m going to be mean to you act doesn’t work. If you are in the club it is because you chose to be there. Get over yourself and if you have no respect for these women do not go in. It is that simple.

Fall = Boots

September 2, 2009

It was a frigid 71 degrees outside today in Atlanta. My first thought stepping outside of my condo this morning was I need stop tossing cigarette butts on the ground followed by damn I really need a pedicure and finally ooshe it’s cold outside!  It is the end of the summer already and to some that means going off to college or wearing that maxi dress to one more barbecue, but to me it means boots! Yes, boot season is here my friends and it is better than ever. Fringe, studs, thigh-highs, etc.. it is the season of the rock star. No need for Gucci, Louboutin, or Wang  money this season more affordable designers are producing rock star styles that will have you looking good without breaking the bank or looking like a cheap prostitute. In past seasons if you wanted affordable thigh-high boots there were hardly any options unless you wanted to go with the patent leather fetish boots, but now they are readily available. Studs and chains may have looked trashy before but now they are nicely placed on sleek boots that go perfect with leggings, skinny jeans, and dresses. Also, you will see the return of gray boots this season along with booties, and pointy toes are out while square and round toes are in the spotlight. Now how long until the young boys start walking around with the bubble, fur coats on? I give it two weeks.
